Sony has introduced a new, lighter PS5 Digital Edition that does not require the use of a screwdriver to install the stand.

Sony has quietly introduced a new model of its PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console, which goes by the model number CFI-1102A. The new model has received little attention. As of now, the CFI-1000B is available for purchase from retailers across Australia. The device has undergone two major improvements over its predecessor, including a 300-gram weight reduction, resulting in a total weight of 3.6KG, and a new stand design that does not require the use of a screwdriver to assemble.

Installing the new screw by hand is made possible thanks to the grippy texture on the head of the screw that comes with the package.

Otherwise, the console is identical to what it was before, with no other hardware modifications. The new CFI-1102A PS5 Digital has previously been spotted in leaked retailer listings in Japan, so we can expect that market to receive the new edition console in the near future as well. However, there is currently no information available regarding when or if the new PS5 version will be made available to users in other parts of the world.
