The OnePlus 6 and 6T now have a new Android 11 Open Beta.

OxygenOS Android 11 Open Beta 3 is reportedly being distributed to the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, along with a few improvements and bug fixes. The machines received Open Beta 1 in early July, followed by Open Beta 2 late last month.

The OxygenOS Android 11 Open Beta 3 improves the smoothness of YouTube videos and optimises the background process management mechanism to improve the battery life of both devices, according to the changelog shared by XDA-Developers.

Today marks the release of the third Open Beta for these two phones, which are based on Android 11 with OxygenOS 11 on top.Open Beta 3 improves battery life by optimising background process management, fixing the failure to enable VoWiFi, fixing the fact that the Work-Life Balance feature didn’t work when the screen was locked, improving the smoothness of video playback in the YouTube app, and improving overall system stability. In addition, some previously unnamed known issues have been resolved.

Overall, if you’re a OnePlus 6 or 6T beta tester, this appears to be an update you should install as soon as possible.
It is delivered over the air and requires a 191MB download.

With all of these builds being released at a reasonable rate, we’re hoping the final, stable update to Android 11 for the OnePlus 6 and 6T isn’t far behind. It’s encouraging to see the Chinese company taking care of its older phones in this manner (both of these are from 2018), as this isn’t always the case.On the other hand, Android 11 is nearly a year old, so the sooner the stable update is released, the better.
