OnePlus previously confirmed that it will combine its OxygenOS with OPPO’s ColorOS, with the OnePlus Nord 2 being the first product to be released with the new codebase. While the changes may not be immediately apparent to a casual smartphone user, there are a number of changes to the UI, particularly the camera application. The end result, however, was an improved camera performance on the Nord 2 when compared to previous OnePlus phones. In China, OnePlus phones ship with HydrogenOS, but that changed with the OnePlus 9 series, which came with ColorOS out of the box.It has now been revealed that the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T will receive the ColorOS update next year.

Mr. Fengshuo did not specify whether the update will only be available for Chinese models or also for global models.OnePlus, on the other hand, has previously stated that its international variants will continue to run OxygenOS.It remains to be seen whether this changes with future OnePlus smartphones.

Separately, OnePlus has published the OxygenOS 11 stable update for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, which is based on Android 11.Earlier this year, the company released a beta update for the phones. The stable update, like most updates, will begin with a small number of users and then spread to all devices over time. The update includes an improved UI design, camera refinements, a new Insight Clock face for the Ambient display, enhanced Dark mode, a Dark mode quick settings shortcut, weather animation updates, and Game Space improvements.
