Redmi 12 launching date, pricing & specifications leak

It is common knowledge that the products in the Redmi numbered series are geared towards the more affordable end of the market. A short while ago, the company introduced the Redmi 12C smartphone to the market. Now, it is getting ready to bring one more product to the series, and that product will be called the Redmi 12. There is evidence of it in databases maintained by IMEI, FCC, and TKDN already. Now, a new report has divulged its characteristics as well as its pricing before it was officially released.

 Redmi 12

Specification

A leak from the French website Dealabs claims that the Redmi 12 will have a plastic body and frame, with dimensions of roughly 168.60 millimetres by 76.28 millimetres by 8.17 millimetres, and a weight of approximately 199 grammes. A massive 5000 mAh battery will be used to power the phone, and it will come pre-configured to allow fast charging at 18 watts. It will come pre-installed with a USB Type-C port as well as a slot that can accommodate two SIM cards.

The front of the Redmi 12 is rumoured to feature a big 6.79-inch IPS TFT screen with a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels, making it compatible with Full HD+ content. The display has a pixel density of 396 PPI and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to guard it against damage caused by accidental drops and scratches. Notably, the screen is able to handle refresh rates of up to 90Hz, according to Xiaomi’s AdaptiveSync refresh rate technology. This technology enables the screen to automatically vary between refresh rates of 30, 48, 60, or 90Hz depending on the material that is being displayed.

It is anticipated that the Redmi 12 would incorporate a System-on-Chip (SoC) manufactured by MediaTek. It is predicted that it would come with a variant that has 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space. Additionally, customers will have the ability to increase the storage capacity of the device by up to 1 terabyte by making use of a microSD card slot.

On the device’s rear is rumoured to be a three-camera arrangement, making this a potential selling point for consumers interested in photography. It has been rumoured that the primary sensor is a 50-megapixel lens with an aperture of f/1.8. This is joined by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. It is believed that the camera arrangement on the Redmi 12 is adaptable, which is particularly interesting considering that many smartphones in the same price range typically do not include an ultra-wide lens. Expect a front-facing camera with 8 megapixels and an aperture of f/2.5 for taking selfies.

A fingerprint scanner, two speakers, a 3.5mm headphone socket, and support for artificial intelligence face recognition are some of the other prominent features included in the Redmi 12. It is expected that the Android 12-based MIUI 13 operating system will come pre-installed on the handset.

Availability and price

In terms of pricing and availability, it has been reported that the Redmi 12 will make its debut on June 2 at a price of 199 Euros and 61,150 Rs when it first becomes available. Blue, silver, and black will be the colour options for purchasing the smartphone when it goes on sale.
